About the event
Working with singers can feel unsettling. They use unfamiliar terminology, carry high performance expectations, and present with complaints that don’t always sit neatly within our usual speaking-voice frameworks. Many clinicians — especially those who don’t sing themselves — quietly wonder if they’re missing something.
This session aims to unpack what truly makes singers different in clinic. We will explore how to translate common performance-related complaints (e.g., loss of high notes, “mix” issues, fatigue) into physiological understanding, and consider how assessment and management may need to be adjusted.
Together, we can look forward to:
Greater clarity when singers describe technical problems
A working framework for linking performance complaints to physiology and clinical reasoning
Increased confidence in working alongside vocal coaches and other professionals without overstepping
