Training Roadmap for Speech Therapists in Acute Care (June 2024)

On 28 June 2024, the Ministry of Health published the Training Roadmap for Speech Therapists in Acute Care.

This roadmap details the functions, key tasks, and competencies of the role of novice STs (Acute Care ST (I) with 0 years of service; and Acute Care ST (II) with 1 year of service in acute care) working in an acute care environment - to competently assess, diagnose and treat individuals with acute and possibly complex medical issues that impact their communication and/or swallowing functions.

It also contains a non-exhaustive list of training programmes for dysphagia to guide STs in acute care to progress from novice to advanced levels of practice.

The training roadmap is accessible via the MOH Healthcare Professional Portal. You may view it here.
